Every year The Middlesex Food Festival selects a charity to receive a donation
The 2019 festival will be supporting The Royal National Lifeboat Institution We are the RNLI: the charity that saves lives at sea. Every day of every year, people of all backgrounds get into danger in the water.
The RNLI started its work in 1824 and today philosophy remains the same: to provide our lifesaving service using volunteers wherever possible, with voluntary donations supplying the funds needed to do so. We provide, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue services and a seasonal lifeguard service around the UK and Ireland.
There are over 350 lifeboats in the RNLI fleet based at our stations around the UK and Ireland. Between them, RNLI lifeboats cover 19,000 miles of coastline and some busy inland stretches of water. Our busiest Lifeboat Stations are close by along the Thames at Teddington, Chiswick, Tower and Gravesend.
Working together with partners and communities, we aim to educate, influence, supervise and rescue those at risk from drowning. In 2024 we hope that this work will result in a 50% reduction in drowning in the UK and Ireland
The Molesey, Esher & Claygate Branch we are one of many local fund-raising branches of the RNLI. At this event we will be raising awareness and funds for our Charity. These branches rely on new volunteers like you to help continually raise funds for the RNLI. If you’re interested in helping us out, no matter how much spare time you have, come and say hello. Come and visit our stand and together we can keep the RNLI a float
